Postcards from

Wild Alaska Adventure

'Farewells and Hellos'

Goodbye Connie and Luke

This is Connie and Luke Nelson, owners of the Glacier Trail B&B.  Check out their site at www.juneaulodging.com.  The Glacier Trail is absolutely the best B&B either of us has ever visited.  The rooms were beautiful with fantastic views of the Mendenhall Glacier.  Luke and Connie were friendly and helpful.   If you come to Juneau, be sure to stay at the Glacier Trail.

Luke and Connie - Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The guide book says Perseverance Trail is 'three miles of easy walking'.  Easy if you find walking up the side of a mountain 'easy'!  Along the way, there are signs from the State of Alaska that basically say 'we have taken precautions to make the trail safe - but you could die anyway'.

Snow melt River

About one mile up the trail is a cut off to Ebner Falls.  With such heavy run off from the mountains this stream was raging with water.  Karen took this picture just above the falls.

On such a sunny day, it was impossible for Carla to resist a quick nap on the warm rocks!

Our Ship

We are sailing from Juneau on the Yorktown Clipper.  It is about 10 years old, built in Florida and holds about 250 people including the crew.  Here is a picture at the dock in Juneau.

Karen took this pretty picture of the sun going behind the mountains in Juneau.  This was taken just before 10:00pm.  Goodbye Juneau.
