Our last day
cruising was spent in Misty Fjords National Monument. We arrived there about 5:30am.
This picture is from the very early morning as we entered Punchbowl Cove. |
The steep rock
walls of the Fjords were carved by glaciers. |

This is a
granite cliff. The rock wall is nearly vertical. The cliffs reach up to 3000
feet above the water and about 900 feet below the water. And yes, that is snow in
the bottom of the picture. |
| There are no glaciers visible in
the Fjords but there are plenty of waterfalls from the melting snow. |

The Forest
Service supplied two Wilderness Guides to narrate our trip through the Fjords. They
came to the boat via their sea kayaks. Here they are paddling away at the end of our
trip through the Fjords. |

| Our last port of call is Ketchikan.
It is the southernmost city in Southeast Alaska. This picture is of shops along
Creek Street. |
Like all the
towns we have visited Ketchikan is tucked between the mountains and the water. Here
is a view of the cloud covered mountains from downtown. We are looking forward to
hiking and touring around tomorrow. |
