At 0730 on Tuesday May 3, 2005 Cincinnati Police and Cincinnati Fire Departments swithced on their 800MHz 9600 baud APCO-25 Motorola
Radios. Their new system is tied into the Hamilton County system, sharing sites and frequencies.

Car 2314 (Twenty-three Fourteen)

2 - District or Assignment ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 )

3 - Relief (Shift) or Assignment [ 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd or 4^th (Power Shift 1900-0300, 2000-0400, 2100-0500)

5 = District Investigators, 6 = C.O.P Team, 7 = Early Power Shift 1100 - 1900, 1200 - 2000, 1300-2100,
8 = Special Ops, 9 = Off Duty Details, 0 = Violent Crimes Task Force Unit

1 - Beat number if 1 thru 5, 6 = Covert Unit 7 = District Traffic Car, 8 = Uniformed Officer

4      -        Zone of Assignment if 1 or 2, If the number is 3 or above they cover the even or odd zone number,
                 thus 5 would cover Zone 1 and 6 would cover Zone 2. If the third number is an 8 (Bike Patrol) then the
                 4th number is the Beat.

Thus: Car 2314 is a District 2, 3^rd Relief Car assigned on Beat 1 in Zone 2)

For an example of a Violent Crimes Task Force Unit:

Car 4061 would mean a District 4 Violent Crimes Covert Unit . The last number is
an individual number.

1 Digit Car Numbers are the Chief and Assistant Chiefs

2 Digit Car Numbers are Captains

Cars ending in 00 are Lieutenants or Acting Supervisors.

All other Cars ending in 0 are Sergeants
