Wireless microphones being used by the talents are in the 600 MHz range.
2.
Butler County is in the process of building a countywide P-25 (9600
Baud CPQSK) Trunked Radio System.
The system is slated to come
on-line in late December 2008. When completed the new Butler County
System will absorb both the Oxford
P-25 system and the West Chester Township SmartNet system to
form one countywide system. As of
July 1, 2008 several tower sites have been built, however the county
has applied for and been granted an
extension by the FCC to extend the build out to December 31, 2009.
The
county has run into some difficulties
acquiring land for some of the proposed tower sites. The planned
switch
over date of December 31, 2008 is still the target date,
this extension gives them some leeway
should any more problems arise.
All agencies in the county are expected to join and use this system.
Once this system is online, you will need a digital capable scanner to monitor it.
A Thank You to Dave, N8DHW for the above update.
3. Miamisburg Police is now being dispatched full time by the Montgomery County Sheriff on
talkgroup 48 "SO
NORTH". This is to help with the alignments when the new County
Communications Center opens later this year.
4. Some members have inquired about where to purchase the Uniden BCD-396T in this area.
The only place we can think of and highly recommend is The Hobby Stop in Kettering.
In most cases Norm Schrein offers an "out the door" cash discount.
5. Most of the units in Montgomery County dispatched by or using Montgomery County Sheriff
Office talkgroups are now indentified by who they are. For example:
Butler Township PD unit is: Butler 331, Riverside PD is Riverside 331 and so on.
The alpha-numeric unit id system is almost completely phased out.
6.
Bethel Township Fire Department in Clark County has received an $85,850.00 grant from the
2007 Assistance to Firefighters program. The money will be used
to install a new 800MHz radio
system. The new radio system will improve communications with other area fire
departments that
are currently on 800MHz and will maintain communication capabilities with fire
departments that
are still on the VHF bands. Money from Homeland
Security programs will also help pay for the
$356,567.00 new radio system.
7. The Kentucky National Guard appear to be upgrading their radio system which involves about 50 different
Armories throughout the
Commenwealth. Keep a watch on the following frequencies and
please let us
know what you hear, all appear to be APCO-25 mode:
138.4250 139.2150
140.7900 148.7500

AREA RADIO MONITORING NETS
The MONIX Shortwave and Scanner Listener`s Information
Net takes place Thursday evenings at 9:30 PM local time on the
145.230/4.630 W8PRH Repeater (Fairfield Amateur Radio Association). It
is an open net and all check-ins are welcome, if you can`t check-in,
then you can listen in on your scanner. Check in and let us know what
you are hearing! 145.390 is the backup repeater when the 23 machine is
down. Due to lack of operators for Net Control, the net is on a catch
as catch can basis. We may be on, we may be not. If you might be
interested in becoming a net control station for the net, please
contact me (Mark Meece).
We also suggest you check in and listen in to the All Ohio
Scanner Club's Scanner and Shortwave Listeners' Net held every Monday
evening at 9:30 pm on the 146.940 (123.0 PL) W8BI repeater in Dayton.
The heart of MONIX is
our Scanner Frequency List for the Cincinnati/Dayton Area. This list
has grown from just a few pages in 1987 to over 60 pages today. The
list covers frequencies actually monitored by club members.
The MONIX list is available FREE as an electronic text file from the alternate MONIX website www.monix.net
This site offers specific pages for Frequency Information
by county and/or department. MONIX offers a wealth of
information on the radio monitoring hobby. Here you will find
frequencies, unit numbers and codes for many Public Safety Departments
throughout Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern
Indiana. We have also included many other frequencies used in these
areas as well. Just make a selection from the listings below.
