IDENTIFYING THE LUKEWARM MEMBER. By Jim Sasser 1. He has time to read the newspaper daily, but not the Word of God. 2. he spends more time with the sports page than he does in prayer. 3. he spends as much or more for tobacco as he gives to the Lord. 4. For lack of study, he is not qualified to teach others. 5. he doesn't have enough interest in the souls of the lost to even invite them to attend services. 6. Companionship with other Christians means nothing to him. He would as soon associate with worldly people as he would with those who are spiritually minded. 7. He expects the program of work in the church to be carried on, but he never does any of it himself. He acts like a visitor when he does attend. 8. If he even realizes there are poor and needy people to be cared for, he expects someone else to shoulder the responsibility of supplying their needs. 9. If he thinks about the sick and that they should be visited, he thinks others should do it. 10. Instead of having confidence in the gospel and its power to convict and convert lost souls, often he is ashamed of it and apologizes to his friends for the plain, positive preaching they hear. Jesus said, "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lsukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth." Rev. 3:15,16. -------------via, Gospel Digest ************************************************* MISERABLE ONE. A lukewarm Christian neither hot nor cold. A wretched one you are who attends church services occasionally. Your heart is not right with God....and you know it. You are at home in your bed...or somewhere else sogging in your misery while the Lord's people gather to worship. "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them." Mt. 18:20. Your misery has no end. Next week you will want to avoid meeting members of the church for you are afraid they might ask where you were last Lord's day. You wil not want to see the godly elder who properly shepherds his flock coming by next week to see you for you know he is looking for his stray sheep. you don't desire to see the preacher coming next wek for you are compelled to make some frivo- lous excuse for absenting yourself from the services of the church. Poor, miserable Christian....in the judgment the Lord will say, "Depart from me, ye that work iniquity, I never knew yous." ---------------Via, Gospel Digest
