"Diligent In The Services." 1 Corinthians 15:58. By Glen Murphy Introduction: 1.This verse is the conclusion of the mighty chapter on the resurrection from the dead. 2.Since all of us are going to live again to give account of our lives while here, this admonition is given. 3.Each phrase of this verse is heavily laden with a strik-ing message for all concerned. (I) "Therefore, My Beloved Brethren," A.This tells us who has the victory through CHRIST. 1 Corinthians 15:58. 1.The Beloved Brethren are the people to whom the promise is given; 2.But who are these???? B.We know what Saul, later called Paul did to be a child of GOD; Acts 9:1-9; Acts 9:10-18; Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:20-21 C.We know what these did to become children of GOD; Acts 18:8. D.Having All done the same things, these were brethren. E.This should tell us beyound any shadow of a doubt the importance of obeying the gospel of CHRIST. F.m the resurrection, all will be able to see the importance of having become a child of GOD. (II) "Be Ye Steadfast, Unmovable," A.This tells us the basic requirement in being diligent in the ser- vices of our LORD. B.The Basic requirement is not talent, important as that is, 1.It is being steadfast, unmovable: C.Real zeal canno't he ignored: Philippians 2:12; 1:27; Romans 10:1-3. D.The lack of steadfastness is the curse of society in the Home, In business, and in the Lord's Church. (III) "Always." A.To have victory, we must he always about our tas1~-s; Philippians 4:4; 2:12; 1 Peter 3:15; 2 Timothy '1:1-4. B.Christianity is a day by day affair. (IV) Alvays Abounding In The Work Of The LORD;" Tells us how much we are to always do. A.Abounding is important, there is much to do. 1.Abounding,is to be over and above. B.We want to suggest that Christianity calls for more: Matthew 5:20; 6:33; Romans 12:1-2 C.Even when abounding, we will not be worthy; but inprofitable. Luke 17:10. (V) "Alvays Abounding In The Work Of The LORD," Tells us that which we are to abound in. A.The Church is pictured as a vineyard---A place of work. Matthew 20:1 B.Christians, especially those who can teach publicly or privately, are workers, working on a building, the Church; 1 Corinthians 3:9; C.Each Christian has His or Her own talent\s or capabilities, Therefore each is to work; 1 Corinthians 12:13-24. D.The Work of The LORD is the work that He has authorised to be done, The Church as a body, is to preach the Gospel. Philippians 4:11-12. E.The Church is also to provide material relief to Her Own; Acts 2:41-47; 4:3'i-~35; 6:1-4; 11:27-30; Romans 15:25-27; 1 Cor. 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8-9, Chapters; 1 Timothy 5:16. (VI) "For As Much As Ye Know That Your Labour Is Not In Vain In The LORD," This Gives Llie moLive for so serving. A.We ought to be diligent iii the Service of the LORD, because there will be a resurrection. B.We ought to be diligent in service to the LORD, For labour in the LORD is not in vain. Other labors will one day be spent to no lasting good, But not the labor for the LORD. C.A third motive is impiied,---We will all be judged after awhile; 2 Corinthians 5:10. CONCLUSION: We Need To Work Now! After Awhile Will Be Too Late: John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
